Meet Ashley
Experienced, thoughtful, and down to earth
Ashley Hanna-Morgan is a perinatal and trauma therapist, author, and educator. She does this work from both sides, as a clinician and as someone who has personally navigated a perinatal mental health struggle. She brings the same purpose to therapy, writing, and teaching: naming hard experiences, reducing shame, and helping people feel less alone.

The journey to parenthood is a tumultuous one for everyone, if we’re being honest. I became certified by Postpartum Support International to specialize in parents’ emotional wellness because it’s a personal passion born out of my own experience. Having walked in your shoes, I would like to help provide practical tools to ease your transition from partners to parents, so that you can be the best person and parent you can be.

How she got here
Ashley earned her Bachelor’s in English Literature at UCLA. After attending Baylor University for her Master’s in Social Work, Ashley taught parenting skills training in the home and provided therapy to children and adolescents with externalizing behavior disorders. With a soft spot for seniors from many wonderful experiences with her grandparents, Ashley subsequently worked in hospice for the next seven years, with a parallel stint writing for a winery in Sonoma. Creating recipes for wine-pairings was a life-affirming counterbalance!
Writing, curriculum, and advocacy
Ashley became passionate about helping others with Perinatal Mental Health struggles from a trauma-informed and systems-level perspective after she worked through it personally. In addition to her work as a psychotherapist, she writes about mental health to advocate for change and inspire hope. In 2016, she wrote the Afterglow Curriculum and started a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness Therapy based support group in Los Angeles for parents with Postpartum Depression and Anxiety. In 2017, she published a collection of poetry called I Gave Birth to My Heart that she hopes will throw back the curtains and shed some light on what Postpartum Depression and Anxiety actually feel like, as well as, most importantly, what the recovery looked like. She is a therapist in private practice in Nevada and California.
Beyond the work
When Ashley is not advocating for parents’ mental health, she loves to explore nature, practice yoga, experiment in the kitchen, read with a cup of tea, meditate, dance, and write.
