Perinatal Mental Health

What “perinatal mental health” really covers

  • PMH-C certified
  • Fertility through postpartum
  • Perimenopause included
  • Free 15-minute consultation

Perinatal mental health spans the reproductive years around having a baby: trying to conceive, pregnancy, birth, the postpartum months and years, and pregnancy or reproductive loss. You do not have to be newly postpartum, or in crisis, for this to be the right kind of support.

Perimenopause, too

Ashley also works with people navigating perimenopause, as part of her focus on reproductive and perinatal mental health.

If you are on a fertility journey, thinking about becoming pregnant or adopting, if you are currently pregnant, or if you have brought home a baby (sometime in the past several years) and would like some support, it’s never too early or too late.

Who this is for

People on the fertility journey, folks grieving miscarriages or needing to terminate for medical reasons (TFMR), pregnant and postpartum moms and dads, couples wanting to evolve together, and even grandparents adjusting to new family dynamics. (While I cannot treat an individual and their partner simultaneously, I welcome partners for drop-in sessions to educate and advocate for my clients.)

How therapy can help

Together, we can make sense of what’s happening: the medical stress, the grief, the mood and anxiety changes, the questions about identity, and the strain that these seasons can put on a relationship. Therapy won’t promise a particular outcome or a tidy timeline. It can give you a place to feel understood, tools that help your mind and body feel a little safer, and support in making the decisions that are yours to make.

Where therapy is available

Sessions are held virtually throughout California and Nevada, with in-person options in San Diego (a Pacific Beach office and walk-and-talk sessions). Details are on the availability page.
