Cookie Notice

Last updated:

This Cookie Notice explains the small number of cookies and similar technologies this website uses, and the choices you have. It is part of, and should be read with, our Privacy Policy. The site is run by Healing Home Counseling, Licensed Clinical Social Work Corporation.

A cookie is a small file a website can store in your browser. Some cookies are needed for a site to work; others, such as analytics, are optional and used only if you agree.

Cookies we always use (strictly necessary)

These are needed for the site to work and to respect your choices. They are not used for tracking or advertising, and they do not require consent.

  • __Host-ahm_csrf is a first-party security cookie, set only when you use the contact form, that protects it against a common type of forgery. It lasts about two hours.
  • ahm_consent is a first-party cookie that remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we do not ask again on every page. It lasts about six months.

The contact form also uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a security check that confirms a real person is submitting the form. Turnstile may set its own short-lived cookie or store a little data in your browser to run that check. This is a security measure, not tracking.

Analytics cookies (only if you accept)

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. It is off by default. On your first visit a small banner asks whether you accept analytics:

  • If you choose Decline (or do nothing), Google Analytics is never loaded and it sets no cookies.
  • If you choose Accept, Google Analytics loads and sets its own first-party cookies (typically named _ga and _ga_<id>) that it uses to tell visits apart and measure usage. These usually last up to about two years.
  • If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a decline automatically and do not show the banner.

We use analytics only to measure the site; advertising and personalization are turned off. For what Google Analytics collects and how it is handled, see the Analytics section of the Privacy Policy.

Embedded video (only if you play it)

Some pages include a video that does not load until you click play. Until then, nothing is requested from YouTube and it stores nothing. If you choose to play it, the video loads from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com), and YouTube’s own cookies and privacy policy then apply.

Changing your mind and controlling cookies

You can change your analytics choice at any time using the Cookie Preferences link in the site footer, which re-opens the banner. Clearing this site’s cookies in your browser also brings the banner back on your next visit. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser’s settings, though blocking the strictly necessary cookies may stop the contact form from working.

Changes to this notice

If we change the cookies or technologies we use, we will update this notice and the “last updated” date above. If we ever add cookies that are not strictly necessary beyond the analytics described here, we will ask for your consent first.
