Perinatal & postpartum mental health

Honored to be Speaking at Point Loma MomCo on November 3, 2026

Motherhood is often painted in soft pastels (cozy snuggles, quiet nursery corners, and endlessly smiling baby photos), the maternal idealized. But the reality? It’s also messy, overwhelming, and can sometimes bring up intense, white-hot flashes of anger that catch us completely off guard.

If you’ve ever felt that sudden surge of frustration or “mom rage,” please know you are not alone, and you are not broken. The scientific research is clear: there’s physiology, systemic reasons, and a need for support underneath “seeing red.”

I’m thrilled to share that I will be speaking at the upcoming MomCo meeting on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at the Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church. We’ll be gathering from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, and I’ll be taking the floor around 10:00 AM to dive into a conversation we desperately need to have out in the open.

What We’ll Be Discussing

Following recent cultural conversations, including the heavy attention surrounding cases like the Lindsay Clancy trial and the vital discussions on postpartum mental health, we are going to talk honestly about mom rage as a feature of postpartum depression and anxiety, and as its own experience.

Together, we’ll explore:

  • What’s normal and what’s not: Understanding where everyday parental stress ends and clinical signals begin.
  • The biological and emotional triggers: Why we feel ourselves getting angry when our nervous systems are stretched to the absolute limit.
  • The family & systems perspective: We don’t operate in a vacuum, and the family system is about everyone’s well-being, so we can function better together.
  • Compassionate tools: How to be proactive, how we can react in the heat of the moment and, most importantly, how to extend radical grace and kindness to ourselves when we stumble.

Join Us

If you are local to the San Diego area and connected with Point Loma MomCo, or interested in dropping in, I would love to see you there! It’s a wonderful group of moms, and new moms are always welcome. There will be plenty of space for Q&A, connection, and a deep breath of relief knowing we’re all in this together. I’ll also have copies of my books available if you’d like to check them out.

Let’s shed the shame, normalize the hard parts of matrescence, and learn how to nurture our own mental health right alongside our families.
